The Lego Movie

The LEGO Movie was released in 2014 and i’ve probably watched it 2014 times since then. I honestly think this film is such a gem for every LEGO fan, I personally love LEGO so being able to recognise figures and specific pieces which you can buy in real life was very cool for me.

In a nut shell the plot shares Emmet’s (Chris Pratt) story, an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules. He is mistakenly identified as the Special — an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world.

This film is slightly childish yes, but once you look past some of the basic comedy there’s some really nice moments for adults too. When you look closely and really start to appreciate the time and effort that’s gone into this feature you can’t not like it! The animation is so flawless it could be start stop motion, the creators wanted this film to be like no LEGO movie ever before. From 2004 up to 2013 LEGO movies have never recreated real LEGO bricks or movements, the animation isn’t very good quality and the figures don’t move like real LEGO figures. This 2014 adaptation is true to the very restricted movements which can lead to some funny jokes.

The characters all have some great voice actors too, bringing them to life with every word. Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman all embody these cute toys which we all played with at least once.

If you’re sceptical of the LEGO movie, don’t be, it’s a family fun adventure which plunges you into the world of LEGO. Yes, the prime target audience is children but who says anyone above the ages for 7 can’t enjoy it too!

Everything is awesome.
